If a sacrificial animal is lost or can’t be identified anymore and a replacement is found – what are the rules if the original animal shows up again? And what do we do with the replacement animal and the original animal?
Rabbi Ute Steyer received rabbinic ordination and a M.A. in Jewish Philosophy from The Jewish Theological Seminary in 2009. She is currently a doctoral candidate in Jewish philosophy at the Hebrew University. Her research interest is in the development of ethical thought in rabbinic literature and contemporary Jewish thought. Rabbi Steyer works as the research and program manager in the Center for Pastoral Education and as adjunct lecturer in Pastoral Theology at JTS. Prior to this she was the program director of the Yeshiva University Center for Jewish Law and Contemporary Civilization at Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law.
