In this episode of Meet Me At the Tzomet (the Intersection) Rabbi Arnie Samlan, of Jewish Connectivity thinks about the start of the baseball season. He focuses on the relationship between the players and the teams, which is to say that players can be traded, and thus forced to move from place to place without consideration for their own personal needs. Are Major League Baseball players modern day slaves?
The torah has a lot to say about the way we are supposed to treat slaves, giving them rights and setting the ways that owners must treat their slaves.
Are there ways in which you dehumanize people? How do you feel when you do so and how can we work hard NOT to? Please let us know your thougths on our Facebook page Facebook.com/JCastNetwork, in the comments on our website and on Twitter @JewishConnectiv, hashtag #Tzomet.
