JJP Tikkun Radio

The JJP 6th grade-students spent 5 Sundays in 2016 learning about social justice through a Jewish lens, and created this podcast exploring the theme as it plays out in New York City. Students met with and interviewed Jewish leaders in the social justice sphere, and explored the Jewish value of “Tzedek Tzedek Tirdof” (“Justice, Justice Shall You Pursue”) by exploring the two tenets of social justice encapsulated in this phrase—justice and compassion. Students learned about the human context of injustice and tell these stories in a compelling way through the interviews and reflections captured in this production. Participants are Catherine Auerbach, Aaron Fleisher, Nora Guttman, Zachary Kaplan, Bonji Onuma, Daniel Talisman, Benjamin Tom, Joshua Yagupsky and Elena Weissmann, instructor. Darone has spent the past fifteen years working in the Jewish Education field, providing top-quality Jewish education to the North American community. he served as the Conference Coordinator for The Coalition for the Advancement of Jewish Education (CAJE) for many years. Since then he has worked at United Jewish Communities (UJC), as their Director of Young Leadership Cabinet Membership, at The Jewish Theological Seminary (JTS), in the Department of Institutional Advancement, and most recently as the Managing Director of The Skirball Center for Adult Jewish Learning at Temple Emanu-El. He brings his passion for Jewish Life and Education, as well as his personal interest and passion for media and technology to this new venture, and is perfectly suited to lead the JCast Network (which he might just have to call JCN as he is so used to working at institutions that use their initials.)
