Welcome to the Four Hundred Forty Second episode of Daily Daf Differently. In this episode, Alyssa Gray looks at Masechet Yoma Daf 42.
Our study of this daf focuses on two ideas. The first is the interesting notion presented in passing that the deaths of the righteous atone for the people Israel. Our examination of this idea and the Bavli’s discussion of whether or not a non-priest can participate in the red heifer ritual show the Bavli’s attempt to decenter the ritual power and role of the hereditary priests.
The opening and closing music for this podcast is Ufros from The Epichorus album One Bead.
