In today’s learning we’ll be tasting the way the sages picked up on Biblical hints as part of the process of Halakhic Midrash, or, Midrash Halakha. This is part of a process one could view as Biblical archaeology, finding the hidden Divine layer that lays beneath the (seeminlgy) uncoverd divine layer in the text before us. We’ll briefly consider how committed is one person to a verse singled out for midrash by another? And, committed to what ?
