In the middle of the discussion on vows made between husband and wife, and all the potential problems that might arise in any marriage, the Talmud brings verses that remind us of the relationship between God and the people Israel. In the midst of the legal discussion, the rabbis push us to strive for holiness, even– or especially– in our most intimate relationships.
