Welcome to the Two Hundred Thirty Sixith episode of Daily Daf Differently. In this episode, Rabbi David Greenstein looks at Masechet Eruvin Daf 81.
We encounter two seemingly conflicting propositions. The sages instructed that, in any legal dispute regarding an eruv, the lenient view should always be adopted. Yet the Talmud seems to accept the stringent view regarding the requirement for a whole loaf to help make an eruv? Why?
David Greenstein serves as rabbi of Congregation Shomrei Emunah in Montclair, NJ. He is the author of Roads to Utopia: The Walking Stories of the Zohar (Stanford University Press; forthcoming).
The opening and closing music for this podcast is Ufros from The Epichorus album One Bead.
