Eruvin, Daf 35

Welcome to the Hundred and Nintieth episode of Daily Daf Differently. In this episode, Rabbi Noah Bickart looks at Masechet Eruvin Daf 35.

According to the Rabbis, an item is either prohibited or it isn’t. You can either pick it up and use it or you can’t. We don’t have to concern ourselves with thinking about weather or not the use to which I now want to put an item is its normal one or not. But R. Eliezer and R. Nehemiah want us to think not about the ontology of objects, but about the experience of using them.
